Nik Rossetto to North Bay
Sault Ste. Marie product Nik Rossetto is returning to northern Ontario. A 2008 birth year right winger, Rossetto has been traded by the Brantford Bulldogs to the North Bay Battalion for a sixth round pick at the 2027 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft.
The 5 foot 9, 156 pound Rossetto was originally drafted by Brantford in the third round of the 2024 OHL priority selections after a specular season with the Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins AAA elite program.
Rossetto had surgery for a shoulder injury that limited him to 49 games for Brantford in ’25-26, one in which he scored six goals, three assists nine points. Over two seasons in Brantford, playoffs included, he put up 16 goals, 16 assists, 32 points in 121 outings.
In going to North Bay, Battalion president of hockey operations Adam Dennis noted that Rossetto “is a player who we coveted in his draft year because of his high IQ, compete level and skill. We followed it up with a great interview but unfortunately missed out on him in the draft.
“Nik dealt with a lot of adversity last season, going through injury and battling a deep lineup (in Brantford) but we feel that having a change of scenery and fresh start could bring out the tremendous upside that Nik has,” added Dennis.
Rossetto is coming off his second shoulder surgery in May of this year and will not be ready for the start of the ’26-27 season.
