Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League are expected to name a new assistant coach by early next week, sources have told HockeyNewsNorth.com.

The new assistant will join second-year head coach Bobby Jones and holdover assistant coach Greg Nemisz behind the Oshawa bench.

An opening for a second assistant was created earlier this off-season when Eric Wellwood left the Generals after two years to take over as the new associate coach of the OHL’s Flint Firebirds.

Oshawa finished in eighth place in the Eastern Conference in 2015-2016 before losing to the top-seeded Kingston Frontenacs in the first round of the playoffs.
