Overage goalie exchange
Soo Greyhounds have cashed in on overage goalie Charlie Schenkel in a big way. Not only are the Hounds adding overage goalie Nolan Lalonde from Kingston but they are also getting three future draft picks from the Frontenacs in return for Schenkel.
Besides Lalonde, who is a signed National Hockey League prospect of the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Greyhounds receive future third, fifth and sixth round picks from the Frontenacs. Lalonde was part of the Saginaw Spirit Memorial Cup championship team of 2024, sharing net duties with Andrew Oke.
Both Lalonde and Schenkel are in their fourth season in the OHL. The well travelled Lalonde has also played for the Erie Otters in addition to Saginaw and Kingston.
Ironically, the Greyhounds will play host to Kingston on Friday night in a 7:07 start at GFL Memorial Gardens.
