After a season-and-a-half with the Lake Superior State Lakers of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, 1997 birth-year defenseman Owen Headrick is now a member of the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League.

Headrick joined the Otters on Friday and in his first OHL game, scored a goal in an 8-2 Erie win over the Sarnia Sting.

The Garden River First Nation product then hit the road with the Otters for a Saturday night match in Flint and a 4-1 win over the Firebirds.

In photo above, Firebirds team photographer Amanda Ray captured Headrick in this isolated shot taken for HockeyNewsNorth.com from Saturday’s Flint-Erie match.

Prior to going to Lake State in 2015, Headrick played two seasons for the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League after being drafted by Erie in the 14th round of the 2013 OHL draft.

What you think about “Owen in an Erie outfit”

  1. Randy can you shed some light on why he left the NCAA? He could have played two more years and traditionally players that leave he MCAA D1 with steady playing time land decent paying pro gigs from Europe to AHL and ECHL? Some even NHL… Erie must have guaranteed 3 years of university and possibly 4 if Owen plays a OA year… can you shed some light please thanks
