Spirit rising

Given up for ghosts through the first 15 games of the 2016-2017 season, Saginaw Spirit has risen from the depths of the Ontario Hockey League to reel off three successive victories.

Struggling with a 2-10-3 record and going nowhere fast, the Spirit is suddenly sizzling as of late.

In its last three outings, Saginaw has 4-2 and 7-4 home-ice wins over the Barrie Colts and Peterborough Petes and a 4-0 road whitewash of the Soo Greyhounds to improve its record to 5-10-3.

Having played only six of its 18 games on home ice thus far, the Spirit has a favourable schedule in that regard over the next 10 contests with only three road tilts, including a neutral site match at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

Saginaw has a 3-2-1 record at home and is 2-8-2 on the road.
