Did you see this coming?

The highly improbable has become stark reality. I mean, did you see the Soo Greyhounds stealing Game 7 against the Sarnia Sting?

I sure didn’t.

And I don’t think very many did.

But the Greyhounds have done what very few thought they could.

After surrendering a 3-1 lead in games and having Sarnia tie the best-of-seven, Ontario Hockey League playoff series 3-3, not many gave the Soo much of a chance in the deciding match.

Undaunted, the no. 7 seed Greyhounds stunned the no. 2 seed Sting 4-3 in Sarnia on Tuesday night to seize the opening-round, Western Conference series in a seven-game stunner.

The Hounds beat the Sting only once in six regular-season tries.

But in this playoff series, the Hounds won four of seven games, three of which came on the road in Sarnia.

Did you see this coming?

I didn’t.

And outside the Greyhound circle, I don’t think many others did either.

But it has happened.

The upstart Hounds have upset the upswing Sting.

What you think about “Did you see this coming?”

  1. A big congrats to Drew and his team. A very good game last night in Sarnia. Best of luck with Erie.

  2. Randy,I think this is one time you are happy you were incorrect with your prediction in this series. Has anyone’s stock gone up more than boris katchouk’s in the last month of this ohl season. The russian rocket is playing like a seasoned veteran. His series clinching goal was incredible as was his acrobatic shot block in the dying minutes. Sure would like to be his agent. good luck the rest of the way to boris and his teammates.

  3. Personally I do feel bad for Sarnia. They played hard so did the Hounds but Halvy was the diffrence. Now we get Erie again … 3rd year in a row now!

  4. ..saw a Battalion game wth the Sault in town…..Hounds looked lke a great skating..sklled team…from what I saw that nite they beat the Battalion ..not surprised by the playoff result at all….love Boris….

  5. If I was in the Greyhounds organization, I wouldn’t give you another interview for awhile. Shame on you for not going with your hometown team. Shame !

  6. Sarnia hasn’t won a playoff series in 8 years. They had Stamkos at that time and they defeated Windsor in 5 games. It was a real bombshell to the Spitfires because captain Mickey Renaud died a month before the series ended. Windsor went on to win 2 OHL championships, and 2 Memorials Cups. Sarnia is due to make serious changes to their organization.
