Wolves get first-round ink
Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League have confirmed that 2000 birth-year defenseman Owen Lalonde has inked a standard players agreement contract.
A 6-foot, 170-pound, right-handed shooting defender, Lalonde was the Wolves first-round pick, second overall, at the 2016 OHL draft.
A Windsor, Ont. product, Lalonde averaged more than a point-per-game while playing at the minor midget level in his hometown in 2015-2016.
Lalonde is ready to make the move north to Sudbury from his Windsor home.
“I am really looking forward to playing for the Wolves’ organization. The coaches and staff have high hopes for this team in the next couple of years and I am looking forward to being a part of it,” said Lalonde.
