Zack Dorval to Ottawa 67’s
1998 birth-year forward Zack Dorval, who starred at the minor midget hockey level in Sault Ste. Marie, has been traded by the Kingston Frontenacs to the Ottawa 67’s for a fourth-round draft pick in 2017.
The 6-foot, 186-pound native of Hearst was Kingston’s second-round pick at the 2014 Ontario Hockey League draft following a 48-goal season with the Soo midgets.
But the hard-nosed, hard-working Dorval was never able to find his offensive game in Kingston. He scored just 7 goals, 9 assists, 16 points in 131 games over parts of three seasons with the Frontenacs.
Going to Ottawa figures to provide a new lease on life and a fresh start for Dorval, who 67’s coach-general manager Jeff Brown has been trying to acquire for more than a year.
Brown touched on the acquisition of Dorval.
“We’ve added a competitive, hard-working and proven player in this league,” noted Brown. “Zack gives us some solid depth going forward and brings some vital playoff experience into our locker room.”
