Flyers in familiar formation
Alpena Flyers of the U.S. Premier Hockey League have commitments from nine players ahead of their main tryout camp that is slated for August 17-20.
Returning to the Flyers — a second-year, community-operated team — are goalies Bret LeTourneau and Hunter Myers and defencemen Shane Dawson and Nic Baranyai.
European defenceman Sergey Merzlov has also committed to the Flyers after playing in the Western States Hockey League in 2014-2015.
Flyers general manager David Guzman has also confirmed the addition of four other newcomers — goalie Bryan Briggs, defencemen Ryan Spencer and Mark Mulligan and Slovakian forward Andrej Fasko.
“We are looking ahead to a great main tryout camp where we will look to fill our remaining forward and defense positions,” Guzman told HockeyNewsNorth.com.
