Wisconsin Lumberjacks forward Ryan Blackburn seems to be proving his coach right by having dealt for him at this year’s junior hockey trade deadline.

The 18-year old Blackburn has been a good producer for Wisconsin since the Superior International Jr. Hockey League team obtained him in a cash exchange with the Leamington Flyers of the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

Lumberjacks coach and general manager Doug Lein said he had his eyes on Blackburn for some time before finally being able to bring the Allendale, Michigan product to Wisconsin last month.

After being blanked in his first three games in a Wisconsin uniform, the 5-foot-10, 175 pound Blackburn has since netted two goals, five assists, seven points in his last seven outings for the Lumberjacks, who are in fifth place in the SIJHL standings with a record of 11-21-2.
