Already in first place in the Superior International Jr. Hockey League, the Kam River Fighting Walleye has bolstered its blue line with the addition of two big 20-year old defensemen from the Kindersley Klippers of the Saskatchewan Jr. Hockey League.

They are Josh Pufahl and Josh Morton, both acquired by Kam River from Kindersley for cash considerations.

“I am super excited about joining an organization that’s in a competitive spot in the league,” said Pufahl.

“Coming in as a 20 year old, I’m just trying to bring some leadership, help contribute to wins and do my best to win a championship,” added Pufahl, who Fighting Walleye general manager Kevin McCallum calls a “top end d-man.

“It was a no doubter when he was offered to us,” McCallum said of Pufahl. “He has size, skill and his skating is exactly what we want on our back end. After chatting with Josh I knew right away we are getting an instant leader.”

As for Morton, he welcomed the trade to Kam River, noting that he is “very blessed to have this opportunity. I look forward to competing and chasing a championship with the Fighting Walleye.”

And McCallum, as the Kam River GM, has no doubt about Morton’s abilities.

“Josh is a multi-tool defenseman who will be a high end player in our league and on our already deep back end,” said McCallum.
