Kam River Fighting Walleye stared adversity straight in the kisser on Thursday and did not flinch. Already trailing two games to none in its Superior International Jr. Hockey League championship series with the cross-town Thunder Bay North Stars, Kam River found itself down by two goals just past the midway point of the first period of Game 3.

But the Fighting Walleye staged a rousing rally to get back into the series with the North Stars. Trailing by the 2-0 score, the Fighting Walleye reeled off five successive goals to skate away with a 5-2 victory and reduce the North Stars lead in the best-of-seven series to 2-1.

Game 4 goes tonight at Fort William Gardens.

Rookie sensation Max Leduc — an 11th round pick of the London Knights at the recent 2023 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft — and fellow forward Jeremy Dunmore scored twice apiece and Eric Vanska made 22 saves in front a Fort Williams Gardens crowd of 1,582.
