Kam River takes Teleco Cup
Junior hockey returned to northwestern Ontario in game form on the weekend for the first time in nine months.
In a two game series for the Teleco Cup at Thunder Bay’s NorWest Arena, the Kam River Fighting Walleye of the Superior International Jr. Hockey League upended the Lakehead Jr. Hockey League Selects by 5-3 and 1-0 scores.
Colin Wiseman, Carson Gorst, Zach Fortin, Calvin Morrow and Mackenzie Sedgwick scored for Kam River in the 5-3 victory.
Then, in the 1-0 triumph, Austin Madge pitched the shutout and Sedgwick netted his second goal of the weekend to give the Fighting Walleye the Teleco Cup title.
