Signed up in Kam River

Having signed 18 players to date, the lineup for the Kam River Fighting Walleye is just about set for the upcoming Superior International Jr. Hockey League season.

But before it begins its 2021-2022 regular season schedule on September 18 with a home game against the crosstown Thunder Bay North Stars, Kam River will play host to a tournament from September 10 to 12.

Meanwhile, following is a list of players who have thus far signed up to play for the Fighting Walleye this season.

FORWARDS: Mackenzie Sedgwick, Keaton Mercredi, Tyler Ralph, Christian Veneruzzo, Ethan Lang, Trenton Morriseau, Carson Gorst, Alex Enegren, Calvin Morrow, Brendan Murray, Jesse Swanson, Owen Lancaster.

DEFENSEMEN: Collin Wiseman, Trystan Goodman, Brad Fortier, Zachary Fortin, Liam Ferguson.

GOALIE: Eric Vanska.

Of note, Sedgwick, Veneruzzo, Morrison, Fortier, Fortin and Vanska are all local Thunder Bay products.

PRE-SEASON TOURNAMENT

As previously noted, Kam River will play host to the 2021 Teleco Cup, a pre-season event that is slated for September 10-12 at Thunder Bay’s NorWest Arena.

Four teams will take part in the round-robin tournament, which will conclude with final games on the third day.

“We are very grateful to have Teleco as the presenting sponsor,” relayed Kam River president Derek Geddes. “Their support has gone a long way in helping us put on this first class event.”

The Fighting Walleye will be joined by SIJHL counterparts Fort Frances Lakers and Wisconsin Lumberjacks as well as the LJHL Selects, a team comprised of the top players from the Lakehead Jr. B Hockey League.
