Surging Walleye hits the road

Fresh from the home waters of a recent two game sweep of the Wisconsin Lumberjacks, coach Matt Valley and the Kam River Fighting Walleye will board the bus for a pair of Superior International Jr. Hockey League road tests this weekend.

With a record of 4-2-1, the Fighting Walleye plays the 1-6-0 Fort Frances Lakers on Friday before heading to Dryden for a stare down with the 4-5-1 Ice Dogs on Saturday.

Scoring balance has been evident for Kam River, which has a 3-0-0 home record and a 1-2-1 road mark to date.

Alex Enegren, with four goals, four assists, eight points and defenseman Zach Fortin with 1-7-8 totals are atop the Fighting Walleye scoring chart followed by three players with identical 3-4-7 numbers — Jeremy Dunmore, Ethan Lang and Trenton Morriseau.

On the back end, goalie Austin Madge has a record of 3-1-0 with a 1.95 goals average and .938 save percentage.

Third seed Kam River trails first place Thunder Bay North Stars (8-2-0) and second ranked Red Lake Miners (7-2-1) in the standings but has three games in hand on both.
