Thief River Falls shuts it down

They played their four most recent games — in mid January — with as few as a dozen skaters. Thus, they are shutting it down for the rest of the season.

With roster numbers having further declined, Thief River Falls Norskies of the Superior International Jr. Hockey League have ceased operations for the balance of this season, Hockey News North has confirmed.

Based in northern Minnesota, Thief River Falls is expected to regroup and return for the 2022-2023 season.

Through 21 games this season, Thief River Falls had 11 points from a record of 5-15-1 and was in sixth place in the seven member SIJHL.

Thief River Falls entered the SIJHL as an expansion team in 2016.
