Fishing the Walleye net

Kam River Fighting Walleye of the Superior International Jr. Hockey League has opted to keep its net intact with two returning goalies.

At the same time, the Fighting Walleye has created an opportunity for a rookie net minding prospect.

Kam River general manager Kevin McCallum has confirmed to Hockey News North that the Fighting Walleye will go with holdovers Austin Madge and Eric Vanska as its two goalies. Madge has a 2001 birth date while Vanska was born in 2002.

At the same time, McCallum said the Fighting Walleye is giving an opportunity to rookie goalie Casey Johnson to remain in the SIJHL by moving the 2003 birth year youngster to the Red Lake Miners.

Johnson told Hockey News North that he is leaving for Red Lake today.
