Walleye in a whitewash

Austin Madge made 37 saves and 800 frenzied fans watched from inside the Norwest Arena fish tank as the Kam River Fighting Walleye began its best-of-seven semi-final set on Thursday with a 9-0 blanking of the cross-town Thunder Bay North Stars.

Game 2 of the Superior International Jr. Hockey League playoff series goes tonight at Norwest Arena with another big crowd expected.

Out-shooting the visitors by a 63-37 margin, the Fighting Walleye got two goals apiece from Carson Gorst and Ethan Lang, a goal and two assists from Jeremy Dunmore and three helpers from trade deadline addition Dayton Clarke en route to the 9-0 whitewash of the North Stars.
