Andrew Barbeau to Michigan Warriors

Hard-hitting defenceman Andrew Barbeau of Sault Ste. Marie was selected in the second round of today’s North American Hockey League draft by the Michigan Warriors.

The 1997 birth-year blueliner captained the Soo Indians major midgets into the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association state championships in 2013-2014.

The 5-foot-10, 180 pound Barbeau had 7 goals, 9 assists, 16 points in 51 games with the Indians during the 2013-2014 campaign.

He was also taken by the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the 26th round of the 2014 United States Hockey League draft.
