Best of the week; week ahead
An unbeaten goalie from Traverse City heads the list of Midwest Jr. Hockey League players-of-the-week for the period ending Sunday, October 19.
The awards are voted on by MWJHL coaches, general managers and league staff.
And the latest winners are:
Forward of the Week: Tim Wilson, Berkley Bruins
Wilson, who has a 1997 birth year, made his Bruins season debut last weekend and had 6 goals, 3 assists, 9 points as Berkley swept the visiting Alpena Flyers.
Of note, Wilson saw action in two games for Berkley last season but was held without a point.
Defenseman of the Week: Evan Wilson, Berkley Bruins
A second-year blueliner with the Bruins, Wilson recorded eight assists in Berkley’s sweep of Alpena.
Of note, Wilson is the older brother of Forward of the Week Tim Wilson.
Goaltender of the Week: David Krejcik, Traverse City Hounds
Krejcik picked up two wins last weekend as the Hounds remained undefeated with a three-game home sweep of the MC Monarchs.
A 1994 birth-year stopper from the Czech Republic, Krejcik now has a record of 4-0 with a 1.14 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage.
Rookie of the Week: Tait Froggett, Alpena Flyers
An 18-year-old product of Alpena, Froggett was a bright spot last weekend for the Flyers with four goals and four assists in three games against Berkley.
Overall this season, Froggett leads Alpena in scoring with 13 points on six goals and seven assists.
