Fighting Irish conquers Berkley

The more you shoot, the more you usually score.

Ken Winter and Jacob Hernandez scored two goals apiece to pace the Detroit Fighting Irish past the visiting Berkley Bruins 8-5 in Midwest Jr. Hockey League action on Wednesday night at the Ice Box Sports Center.

Shawn Mott added a goal and two assists for Detroit, James Smith chipped in with three assists and Zack Cruz netted a goal plus an assist for the Fighting Irish in its 2014-2015 regular-season opener.

Chase Tackett and Aaron Robinson also scored goals for Detroit, which out-shot Berkley by a resounding 61-29 margin.

For the Bruins, Julian Willibey scored three goals and added an assist and Tim Muhsman notched two goals and three assists for a five-point game as Berkley fell to 0-3 with the loss.

  1. DFI looked a tad sloppy in the 3rd but give credit to Berkley for making a game outta it in the 3rd.
