Patrick Rogowski netted two power-play goals, added a shorthanded tally and — for good measure — assisted on three others as the first-place Traverse City Hounds humbled the visiting Detroit Fighting Irish 9-1 before a big crowd of 900-plus fans on Friday.

“We had a great crowd and we played very good hockey,” said Hounds head coach Jacek Wilk. “Our passing was good and we finally started to execute on our chances.”

With the win, the Hounds improved their record to 14-0-1 atop the Midwest Jr. Hockey League standings.

Austin Flores added a goal and three assists and Travis Kirk chipped in with two goals of his own to aid the Traverse City triumph.

Traverse City goalie David Krejcik made 32 saves for his MWJHL-best ninth win of the season.
