MC Monarchs a solid second

Derrick Treppa tapped in two goals and Tyler Skulley made 22 saves as the MC Monarchs solidified their hold on second place in the Midwest Jr. Hockey League standings with a 6-1 triumph over the visiting Michigan Ice Dogs on Tuesday.

With 26 points from a record of 13-5, MC trails first-place Traverse City by three points though the Hounds do hold three games in hand.

Bryce Peplinski and Adam Jonak tallied a goal and an assist apiece, Jarrad Vroman tacked on a pair of assists and Joe Gibbs and Corey Finnemore tallied single goals for the Monarchs in the win over the Ice Dogs.

Marc Rotondo scored the lone goal for the Ice Dogs.
