Say hey to four from the Midwest
The Midwest Jr. Hockey League has announced its players of the week for the period ending Sunday, October 12.
The awards are voted on by league coaches, general managers and MWJHL staff.

Forward of the Week: Cam Fisher, Traverse City Hounds
A third-year veteran of the MWJHL, Fisher rang up eight points on five goals and three assists for Traverse City in last weekend’s three-game road sweep of the Berkley Bruins.
Fisher is currently second in Hounds scoring with his eight points.
Defenseman of the Week: Shawn Mott, Detroit Fighting Irish
Mott, a 20-year-old out of St. Clair Shores, Mich., struck for eight points in four games last week as the Fighting Irish opened the season with single wins against Berkley and the Michigan Ice Dogs and a two-game sweep of the Alpena Flyers.
Mott, whose eight points have him third among MWJHL defensemen in scoring so far this season, also finished with a plus-minus rating of +8 over the four games and anchored a stingy Detroit penalty kill that only allowed two power-play goals.
Goaltender of the Week: Tyler Skulley, MC Monarchs
A co-winner of this award a week ago, Skulley picked up two wins on the weekend as the expansion and undefeated Monarchs (5-0-0) won all three games at home over the Soo Firehawks.
Skulley, a 20-year-old native of Walled Lake, Mich., made 26 saves in Friday night’s dramatic win as Adam Jonak scored the game-winner with 1.2 seconds left in the third period and then stopped 29 shots Sunday as the Monarchs came from behind to gain the triumph.
On the year, Skulley is 4-0-0 with a 2.13 goals-against average, a .933 save percentage and one shutout.
Rookie of the Week: Cam Givens, Traverse City Hounds
An 18-year-old native of Traverse City, Givens posted nine points last weekend as the Hounds completed a three-game road sweep of Berkley.
He leads TC in scoring with his nine points.
