Soo Eagles draft Owen Headrick
Garden River First Nation product Owen Headrick became a North American Hockey League draft pick today.
Soo Eagles selected the 6-foot, 190 pound defenceman in the third round of the 2014 NAHL draft.
A 1997 birth-year, Headrick was rookie-of-the-year in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League during the 2013-2014 season while skating for the Soo Thunderbirds.
Headrick had 8 goals, 23 assists, 31 points in 56 regular-season games with the Thunderbirds. He then added 2 goals, 11 assists, 13 points in 15 playoff outings.
A year ago, Headrick was taken by the Erie Otters in the 14th round of the 2013 Ontario Hockey League draft.
He has since been offered a full-ride scholarship by the Lake Superior State University Lakers of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

I luv this for us I have seen Owen play and this kid is a really good player with so much skill and skating abilities. He will look good on the Eagles & I think the PP and PK with his abilitie.
Has he signed with the Eagles?
He has options that include the NAHL, OHL, USHL and staying where he is in the NOJHL.
