A six-game winning streak to start the 2014-2015 Midwest Jr. Hockey League season came to a halt for the expansion MC Monarchs on Friday night in Traverse City.

Scoring four times in the second period, the hometown Hounds blanked the Monarchs 6-0. In knocking MC from the ranks of the undefeated, TC remains perfect with a record of 4-0.

Austin Flores paced the defending MWJHL champion Hounds past the Monarchs with a goal and two assists. Jan Voves had a two-goal outing for TC and Patrick Rogowski, Stan Swiderek and Greg Meuser added solo tallies in support of goalie David Krejcik, who made 25 saves for the shutout.

“I thought it was a good game and as a team, we played a solid game,” said Hounds associate coach Jacek Wilk. “I thought Austin Flores played a very good game.”

Game two of the weekend series is tonight at 7 p.m. at Centre Ice Arena. The two teams will also meet Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Centre Ice.
