The Midwest Jr. Hockey League has announced its players of the week for the period ending Sunday, January 11.

The awards are voted on by MWJHL coaches, general managers and league staff.

Forward of the Week: Anthony Wojciechowski, MC Monarchs

Big Wojo exploded for nine goals in three games last weekend as the Monarchs won two of three on the road against the Alpena Flyers.

The 1994 birth-year opened the weekend with three goals in Friday night’s 5-0 win, then tallied two more in a 4-3 loss Saturday night before scoring four more in Sunday afternoon’s 7-3 win.

Wojciechowski, a three-year veteran of the MWJHL, now has 29 goals, 12 assists, 41 points in just 18 games with the Monarchs this season.

Defenseman of the Week: Michael Mullen, Soo Firehawks

Mullen posted a goal and an assist in two games last weekend as the Firehawks split with the Michigan Ice Dogs on the road.

For the season, Mullen has three goals, four assists, seven points while skating in 27 games for the Firehawks and playing close to 30 minutes a game.

Goaltender of the Week: Chris Boyd, Michigan Ice Dogs

Boyd played just one game last weekend but his 44-save performance helped the Ice Dogs beat the Soo Firehawks 4-3 and end an eight-game losing streak.

On the season, Boyd has a record of 5-9-3 with a 4.13 goals-against-average and a .899 save percentage.

Rookie of the Week: Bryce Peplinski, MC Monarchs

A 1995 birth-year skater. Peplinski helped the Monarchs to a 2-1 record last weekend in Alpena with two goals, five assists, seven points over the three games.

For the season, Peplinski has 19 goals, 27 assists, 46 points in 33 games for MC.
